Help

Hello Students,

Johnson University participates in the online course-sharing platform known as Acadeum. Through Acadeum, you will have access to additional online courses that otherwise may not be offered at Johnson University, or may not be offered in a semester that you need a specific class. These classes are offered online by other colleges and universities, but we treat them as if they are our own. That means, the course goes on your JU transcript, the grades count in your JU GPA, and the courses can be used for "grade forgiveness" if you need to repeat a course.

Tuition Charges:

Acadeum courses are charged as full tuition for a Johnson University course, plus an Acadeum course fee. If you take a 3.0 credit course for example, you will be charged for three credits of standard tuition. You will then also be charged a fee, which is explained further below. Also, any financial aid you get can help cover the costs of these courses! For further information on cost, please reach out to the Office of the Registrar.

Are you interested in taking a class through Acadeum? Here are the steps to get started:

  1. Meet and discuss with your advisor about what course or courses you need that are not offered when you need it, or that falls outside of what JU normally offers (make sure the courses you need and want are APPROVED to count for your program).
  2. Contact the Registrar's Office to get more information, and to learn how to request enrollment in a course.
  3. Visit the Student Portal Here to find out WHEN certain courses are offered (pay attention to the dates of a course)! You will need to sign up and create an account.
    • You will also see also on each course a FEE. Whatever dollar amount you see, HALF of that will be added to your student account as a fee. So, if you see $600, a $300 fee will be added to your account, and so forth. This is IN ADDITION to normal tuition charges for a class. So you will pay normal tuition + the Acadeum fee
  4. Create a student account through Acadeum, click on the course you want to enroll in, and submit a request to enroll.
  5. This will be reviewed by the Registrar and approval will be granted or denied. Watch your email for updates!

Remember, these courses are offered by OTHER colleges and universities. They can have their own rules and processes, and use their own learning management systems (meaning, they may not use Sakai, so you will need to get familiar with other LMS's). If approved, you will receive a welcome email from the host school with instructions and textbook information. It is up to you to manage your own schedule and be successful! They also will have academic support resources for you as well, so check your email often for updates and information.

If you have any questions, please reach out at RegistrarTN@JohnsonU.edu or call 865-251-2230 and we would be happy to assist you.

Sincerely,

Office of the Registrar
